Baby Sitter Training 

Training Course times can range from 75 minutes up to 6 Hours; depending on the type of class.

A Blended learning class can be from 90 minutes up to 2 hours long.

An Instructor led class will normally be from 2-4 hours long.

To become a American Red Cross CPR Instructor, you must be 16 years old.  

You must be certified in the base level Adult CPR AED.

Complete the online portion of the Instructor Course prior to the in person class.

Successfully complete the in-person portion of the Instructor Course.

A heart attack occurs when blood flow to the heart is significantly reduced or blooked due to a blood clot.

Cardiac Arrest is an irregular heart rhythm called ventricular fibrillation.

Rapid, erratic heart signals cause the lower heart chambers to quiver uselessly instead of pumping blood.

Symptoms: Loss of consciousness and unresponsiveness

High Quality CPR consist of the following:

Proper hand placement; the heel of your hand in the center of the chest, on the lower half of the sternum

compression depth for an Adult of at least 2 inches deep

compression rate of 100-120 compressions per minute

allow for the chest to return to its normal position after each compression.

When giving breaths to an adult, lift the chin, and tilt the head past the neutral position to open the airway.

pinch the nose, and give each breath for 1 second allowing the chest to rise.

minimizing pauses between compressions and breath to no more than 10 seconds.

When performing CPR on an Adult, you compress the chest at least 2 inches, at a rate of 100-120 per minute.

Allow the chest to return to it's normal position after each compressioin.
